What we do

We specialise in feasibility studies and technical proposals for afforestation, reforestation and natural forest management projects; support services for obtaining management and value-chain certificates (FSC®); timber market studies; the preparation of management plans; and the management of permits needed to implement forestry projects.

LiDAR inventories

Forest inventories powered by LiDAR

Using LiDAR technology, Unique scans forests and plantations from the air to capture precise data on every single tree, height, species, diameter, and volume, across the entire surface.

This replaces traditional inventories, which are slow and prone to error, with a fast, reliable, full forest census. The result is solid data for forest management, carbon accounting, and asset valuation.

We already work with eucalyptus plantations and agroforestry systems in Paraguay, as well as mixed forests in Europe. We offer the full service: LiDAR flights, verification and calibration of results with field measurements, data processing, and digital delivery.

PROEZA / GCF / FAO

Implementing agroforestry systems for more than 1,500 Paraguayan families

As part of PROEZA, an initiative of the Government of Paraguay, co-financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented by FAO, Unique led the comprehensive implementation of agroforestry systems benefiting more than 1,500 vulnerable smallholder and indigenous families in the departments of Caaguazú, Caazapá, and Guairá.

Under a turnkey delivery model, between 2025 and 2026 Unique established more than 1,500 agroforestry plots designed to strengthen climate resilience, restore degraded landscapes, and diversify the livelihoods of the beneficiary families.

Beyond establishing the plots, Unique provided comprehensive technical assistance and developed a training program for the beneficiaries.

FLR investments

Upscaling private Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) investments

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety supports selected Latin American countries in achieving their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the UNFCCC Paris Agreement. Forest landscape restoration (FLR) plays a key role in achieving Paraguay’s NDCs, and its successful implementation requires significant private-sector investment.

Between 2021 and 2023, Unique provided technical assistance to increase the impact of forest businesses on FLR — supporting the testing of commercial silviculture on native species and developing a Competence Center to build local stakeholders’ capacity for FLR. Through alliances with the Volendam Cooperative, the University of Asunción and sector experts, Unique developed and implemented more than 10 training modules, reaching over 300 practitioners in the forest sector.

Caazapá Department

Restoration of biological corridors and protection forests in the Caazapá Department

On behalf of the Paraguayan Ministry of Public Works and Communication, Unique worked with 118 smallholders in the Department of Caazapá to conduct reforestation and protect watercourses along the banks of the Yacui and Tayay streams.

Between 2021 and 2023, the project assisted smallholders in implementing agroforestry by providing technical assistance and more than 40,000 native timber and yerba-mate seedlings.
